Comments:
Now a cello. Soundholes very vertical and far from edges. High table arching. Three rows of purfling on both table and back, connecting to small diamond designs at body corners. Website: “Maker unknown, undated”; dimensions -, 31.0/23.4/42.0, 12.6, 60.5. W. Monical (to TGM 10/16): varnish and purfling designs have distinctly Italian character, reminiscent of violins by Antonio Mariani in Pesaro. Soundholes possibly recut from Cs, moved and lengthened, suggested by massive breast retouching of the table.
