Comments:
Website: 2-piece table and back; unknown maker; attribution to Bertrand goes back to catalogue of Lamas collection, but varnish makes this doubtful. Tourin: double purfling on table, single on back, along with 3 diamond purfling designs; head now very black, may once have been gilded; varnish “dark brown, dirty, with hint of red”; “slim chance that it could actually be a Bertrand”. Torres: no label, perhaps Nicolas Bertrand; very dark varnish, possibly not original.
