Probably Thuringian work, c. 1750-70. Walnut back. Rosette (not original). Converted to cello in 19th C, reconverted after 1911, probably by Emil Burkhart (Eisenach). Square shoulders, overhanging front and back. Pegbox and pegs possibly original.
