2-piece table, arched back with double purfling on both (single around C-holes). Rounded shoulders; clear graft between scroll and pegbox. 6 strings in 1978 and 1980 photos, but 7 in 2001, along with new fingerboard and tailpiece. (Montagu 2002: “with new neck and fittings...converted to seven strings.”) Dolmetsch 1978: scroll original; label text given as “Barak Norman at the Bass Violin London Fecit 1718”. Tourin dimensions 68.5, 33.0/-/39.3, 12.5, 68.0. (Sotheby’s condition report sent to John Moran gave dimensions, undoubtedly on back, as 68.7, 33.0/24.0/39.2, -, 69.3.)
