Comments:
2-piece table with thin purfling; 1-piece back (slab cut) with none. C-holes very long, slender, and vertical. Fingerboard is stained black, has small open heart at lower end, and sides that extend past the neck heel, filling distance above table; tailpiece is veneered and has matching heart at upper end. Back has crossbars at fold and below soundpost plate, both rather robust. Pegs reversed, with top string closest to nut. Neck, fingerboard and tailpiece, and interior fittings all original, according to Monical’s appraisal description (dated 10/23/83; his dimensions 71.0, 30.4/22.7/40.4, 13.4, 70.5).
