Members of the viola da gamba community have generously contributed material for
publication on the VdGSA web site. Here are links to all of these contributions.
Bruce Bellingham edited the four-part fantasias of Alfonso Ferrabosco II for their publication in
Musica Britannica vol. 62. Here, he presents an extensive thematic analysis, with recorded examples,
of each of the 22 fantasias.
Martha has edited a new edition of all of Jenkins' five and six-part
fantasias. Parts and scores for all the fantasias and pavans are available here
in pdf format for you to download.
Mr. Furnas has allowed us to publish his intabulation of 46 pieces from the Manchester
Lyra-Viol Manuscript (commonly known as the Manchester
Gamba Book), together with his transcriptions into staff notation. All are in pdf format
and can be downloaded and printed.
This article presents an alternative way to set up the viol that dramatically improves
its rendition of polyphonic consort music.
